Choose to Dance
Learning how to dance is like learning another language, the language of movement, and it will take you places you never expected. By learning a new skill in a social environment, performing in front of others, and developing precision and control over your own body, dance is an opportunity to learn charisma and charm, which can help influence minds and hearts.
According to Healthline, dancing provides beneficial effects to our physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. It is an excellent way to engage in cardio stimulation, as well as developing your mental acuity through memorization of steps. Linking mind and body coordination with creativity and social engagement benefits our emotional and mental balance. According to the Harvard Neuroscience Institute, "dancing involves both a mental effort and social interaction and this type of stimulation help[s] reduce the risk of dementia."
Professional dancer Jonathan Tylicki said, “Movements that we typically do in our daily life, like walking, taking the stairs, and common workouts like treadmills and cycling, occur in the sagittal plane, but dance works your body from all planes, including lateral and rotational, which turns on and conditions all muscles, meaning no muscle is left behind.” This type of movement increases balance as well as strength.

CD Dance Collective & Me
Christifer Duxbury Dance Collective offers a supportive environment to nurture passion in raw beginners and seasoned performers.
Every year, twice a year, we choreograph routines and offer students the opportunity to perform in themed showcases: these are ambitious dance productions that offer scope for character, pantomime, acting, and even vocal performance.
Our focus is to shine the light on our students, and bring out the spark of passion that resides inside each and every one of us.
We firmly believe that you already carry within you everything you need to achieve your dreams. If you've ever thought about learning to dance, or performing in front of an audience, CD Dance Collective is the place to be to nurture the seeds of passion and become exactly who you want to be.
1. What if I fall?
A huge part of dance is attitude, and the courage to try again after you make a mistake. That's why we at CDDC say "If you fall, make it funny." Not because we'll laugh at you, but because working through failure is the only way to grow.
2. What styles do you teach?
CDDC is a collective of teachers who specialize in different styles and love to share our passion. I personally teach Latin, Ballroom, and Swing.
3. What's your favorite style?
There is something to appreciate in every style of dance, but I personally love East Coast Swing, and it's more complex sibling, Lindy Hop, for the fun you can have while social dancing.
4. You're expensive, can you give me a discount?
We at CDDC pride ourselves on offering the highest quality dance lessons at affordable prices. We are worth it, I promise.
